Every year (for the last three years, anyway), Sports Illustrated produces a list of the top 100 tweeters in sports.

People from all parts of the athletic landscape are featured, including athletes, media, agents, owners, coaches, team accounts and spouses.

The point of the list, according to SI, is to come up with a group of recommended follows.

And among this year's 100 are a few people with ties to Arizona, including Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald, Diamondbacks pitcher Brandon McCarthy and McCarthy's wife, Amanda.

On Fitzgerald:

With his own hashtag #FaithFocusFinish, Fitzgerald not only provides inspirational tweets to his followers, but also comments on sports and pop culture from the perspective of a professional athlete. He also sets the standard for player and fan engagemnent by frequently retweeting and responding to questions from his followers.

On Brandon McCarthy:

Diamondbacks pitcher Brandon McCarthy has his own unique brand of humor on Twitter. And he's not just "funny for an athlete" but an actually funny guy. As an added bonus, follow his wife, Amanda (@Mrs_McCarthy32), as the two often tweet at each other.

And on Amanda McCarthy:

The funnier half of the baseball McCarthys -- her Twitter bio: "I have a Westie and a husband (in order). I love wine, food, & I watch way more baseball than anyone should be allowed" -- is spectacularly honest on the social media service. No subject is off-limits for the wife of Diamondbacks pitcher Brandon McCarthy and whatever you do, don't call her before 7:00 a.m.
