AIA gives statement regarding Tempe and Saguaro football game

New developments have emerged in a controversial football game involving Tempe High School and Scottsdale Saguaro last Friday.
The Arizona Interscholastic Association said both teams committed unsportsmanlike conduct, but there's no evidence either deliberately tried to hurt opponents.
On September 7, 2012, Tempe forfeited the game before halftime, claiming they had to for their players' safety.
Saguaro racked up 16 penalties, including five personal fouls and one unsportsmanlike conduct call in a game that had a total of 30 penalties in a half.
A Saguaro player and Tempe assistant coach were both ejected from the game.
Both schools are cooperating with the AIA, which serves as the governing body. It will determine if any sanctions are warranted and is expected to announce a decision in late October.
