Kevin Kolb did not overwhelm the New England Patriots on Sunday. He probably won't keep Eagles defensive coordinator Juan Castillo up until all hours of the night this week as he assembles his game plan for next Sunday's game at University of Phoenix Stadium.

Kolb wasn't spectacular in the Cardinals improbable 20-18 win in Foxborough, but he was effective. He didn't light up the scoreboard or the stat sheet, but with the exception of a second quarter fumble, he protected the football. He wasn't especially accurate, but he made big throws when they counted. He also knew when to throw the ball away and not force it into coverage.

Considering the Cardinals want to be a run first team that relies heavily on its defense, there's no reason Kolb should not be under center against the Eagles, even if John Skelton is healthy. After all, Kolb is directly responsible for both wins.

Has Skelton done anything to lose the starting quarterback job? Not at all. But he also did nothing in the three-and-a-half quarters of action he saw in Week 1 to put a stranglehold on the position.

I know the popular sentiment is that no starter should lose his job to injury, but if every coach followed that mantra, Tom Brady might not be destined for Canton. I'm not saying Kolb will become Brady, but I do see a winning formula so far.

If Skelton gets credit for finishing strong last season, shouldn't Kolb get the same consideration for starting strong this year? The one case that can be made for Skelton starting against the Eagles is what he did to them last season -- 315 passing yards and three touchdowns in a come-from-behind win. But that was last year. Kolb has the hot hand this season.

No doubt coach Ken Whisenhunt has pushed almost all the right buttons since the middle of last season. I'm not saying he pushed the wrong one by starting the season with Skelton under center, but I do think it would be a mistake to go back to him at this point.

    Seriously bro?
The only thing your correct at is that Kolb wasn't spectacular. The play Skelton got injured on, he converted a 1st down throw to Heap on 3rd & 9. Who knows what Skelton would have or could have done after that play that extended that drive. If it wasnt for that Skelton throw, the ball would have been punted to SEA. Credit to Kolb for that go ahead drive. But, let's not discount how many of those drives Skelton had last year in place of the injured Kolb bcuz that's a big reason he's the starter this year.

    Are you a complete idiot.
Thank god Kold didn't cost us this game and believe Howling-Wolf is our most reliable running back. Kolb has NO POCKET PRESENSE! Perfecft example is when he ran outside when he could have stepped inside on a play early in the fourth. Defense and a lot of luck won this game bust Defense was outstanding. Also I would like to see Peterson start being used at receiver sometime. He's electric, and we have to get Fitz involved!

I bet if it was Skelton playing today or if Skelton led the winning drive last week, you fools would be praising him like a god. The fact that it's Kolb, you guys can't stand it. You're quick to pick out any negative plays you can to prove your point against Kolb, but will discount the positives that he's brought so far. It's ridiculous how people will praise and credit Skelton for the Cards wins when he's in there, but then don't want to do the same when Kolb is. It's all stupid. the important thing is that the Cards are WINNING. Get over it

I Agree 100% ...... The Cardinals just beat the Patriots who EVERYONE had us at no-chance in hell. The defense was awesome and Kolb wasn't bad at all either (He DID NOT Turn the ball over NO INT's.) Yes, I'm a Kolb fan but if it was Skelton in today I would also be a Skelton fan. I'm a CARDINAL fan PERIOD ....... GO CARDS ...... AWESOME GAME.

    Kolb's the guy
These two Kolb wins are more impressive than ANY win Skelton has ever had. Kolb is the guy. He isn't playing scared or with happy feet any more. He may not be Aaron Rodgers, but Kolb could be like a Matt Schaub. I just wish our ignorant fan base would quit hating on him and support the guy.

I have been reading these post for a long time. I have seen several derisive and derogatory responses to your opinions. I have thought some have been too hard on you. Week 1 Skelton 14/28 149 TD 0 1 int 1 fumble. Week 2 Kolb 15/27 140 TD 1 0 int 1 fumble. What are you thinking?

    correct i cannot stand kolb
Half of the reason is because he hasn't convinced me he can be effective because he's inconsistent. The other half because we traded DRC and they gave him a huge payday without proving anything. And your right, I should b happy we won. So sorry for the negativity. but just so you know, he hasn't won me over. Credit is given when credit is due. I give him credit. But ill b really impressed if he does that every week. Next week he plays PHI. Skelton won PHI last year. Let's see what Kolb does.

    Give him a break...
No QB was hurt more by last year's lockout than Kolb. He has real potential if given a chance so why not give it to him. It's possible the more comfortable he gets, the better he'll be. The Cards would be crazy to jinx a winning trend. You can always go back to Skelton if necessary.

We can spin for or against
What I saw was a qb that at times had easy looks but did not complete. Kolb had a chance to stay and throw, but ran out (a couple of times) of the pocket. I think if you could focus on 1 qb for a season either would get better in the end. Bouncing back and forth does them both a disservice. Please keep in mind guys, Kolb has shown to be prone to injury. Is that who you want to put all your eggs in that basket? For only that reason I would stay with Skelton. Boy do I pull for Kolb tho. I wouldn't flop, just stay with 1 guy

Don't bring up the DRC thing. That gets old. You can't hold it against Kolb for the trade that was made to get him here. he had nothing to do with it. The only one to blame there is the cardinals origination. but why blame them? they took a chance, wanted to get better. they proved they are not trying to be like the cardinals of old but want to get better and win some ball games. they wanted kolb to be the solution but it wasn't just that. making the trade was important to keep Fitzgerald here too. kolb won the game. be a fan and support the team.
