It's official, Skolb is no more. The power -- or is that lack of power couple -- will no longer share their time together as the No. 1 quarterback for the Cardinals. That's because head coach Ken Whisenhunt finally ended the national nightmare that was the Cards quarterback controversy by naming John Skelton the starter over Kevin Kolb.

Alright, let's be honest, no one, except maybe the Bidwill's accountants, are treating this situation like the R-Patz/K-Stew (that's Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart) breakup and crying over the decision. Neither guy shocked the world with their play and neither inspired much confidence. It was a decision that had to be made now, but one that wasn't made any easier by their play or circumstances.

Kolb, his potential, poor decisions and bloated contract were the favorite to win the job. Skelton, his size and inaccuracy were the underdog. Everyone -- fans and media alike -- had a strong opinion on who should get the job. For the better part of a year Team Kolb and Team Skelton argued like teenage girls over who deserved to take the reins. As the team alternated starters more than Lady Gaga changes outfits, neither side was proven right. Just because a decision was made, doesn't mean that has changed at this point.

Whether you like it or not, you have to applaud Whisenhunt for making the decision to go with Skelton even though it went against financial common sense -- something many didn't expect. And whether you like it or not, its time as fans to put aside petty arguments, stop gloating and support Skelton.

Whether you were a Kolb or Skelton supporter, the bottom line is we're all Cardinals fans and all we want is for the team to win. That can't happen with continued booing and bickering. For better and hopefully not for worse, Skelton is the Week 1 starter.

Skolb has broken up and let's hope they don't get back together. Another year on the emotional quarterback rollercoster will do nothing other than make us all sick -- that and lead to yet another losing season in the desert.

Any Kolb backer that wont support Skelton
is not a true Cardinal fan. I am and always have been a Skelton guy, but if Kolb had won the job I would have been rooting just as hard for him to succeed

    Not a matter of support....
I dont think there is any Cards fan that wants them to fail. People have there opinions, and they share them. Me personally, I think it is time for the head coach to move on and take that impotent line coach with him. The Cards went to the bowl with Warner. NO Warner, no winning seasons. There seems to be a trend. I have no vested interest in who starts. I want the Cards to win. 0-3 and everyone will call for Skeltons head. So this is MY opinion. Whiz must go.

    Time for a coaching change
Stubborn refusal to adjust the scheme to accommodate the talent (or lack of talent) - not acceptable. Horrible decisions year after year in the draft - not acceptable. Make a change NOW - Ray Horton to Head Coach. That locks in the man who has given us the great defense that kept our sorry offense in games last year. Horton's style of football can lead a winning team. Get a NEW QB next year, along with at least 1 OT solid OT.

    Thing is...
Everyone around the league had given up on warner, and almost no one, even in arizona, expected warner to actually win the starting job even when whiz said it was an open competition, they assumed it was just words and leinart was going to get the job no matter what. Whiz saw in warner what 31 other teams didn't and had the courage to make the difficult decision to let what people thought was a washed up fragile qb start over a young qb everyone thought was ready to take the reins.

    That said...
I don't know that whiz has made a great decision in picking skelton over kolb, I have a feeling this will be like the leinart vs anderson competition where whiz was only able to pick the least terrible of two subpar players so it really didn't matter who he picked this year, our qb play is likely going to be frustrating to watch, but at least he still showed the courage to make the less sexy pick because he believes skelton gives them the best chance to win.

    So yeah...
I'll support Skelton. That said, those who've been here for a few years may recall last offseason I wanted the cards to ignore kolb, try their luck with skelton, but I did so not because I believed in him, but because I felt he had about as good a shot of being something special as kolb, and if he flopped, well we had a shot at Luck and still all our draft picks. Skelton didn't change my mind last year, quite the opposite, I really felt we routinely won inspite of him thanks to the defense, but I'll still root for him 100%.

    And...
If he does continue to play poorly, or even regress or get injured, and Kolb comes back in, I'll root for Kolb too. I really don't care who goes out there as long as they don't shoot us in the foot with INTs, that they maintain drives long enough to at least give our defense the occasional breather, and that they don't waste opportunities when the D gives us good field position. I'm rooting for the cardinals first and foremost, and if they have sucess this year I suspect it won't be because of JS, KK, or Whiz, I think it will be on the back of horton and the D.

I think we as Cards fan realize that it is now
Johns time to lead our team on the field. If that happens to change at some point to Kolb I don't think we would as fans be surprised. I as a Cards fan am wanting to just see growth at our QB position. Hopefully we can get our protection schemes down and allow our QB's a few seconds of time to operate because if we can not maintain 3-4 seconds of calm in the pocket nobody will be successful, nobody.

    You wrong on both!
I'm fully behind Lindley being our future but come Sunday, whoever has their hand up the butt crack of the center is the guy I'm supporting. I'm not confident in Kolb or Skelton and I like what I see in Lindley, he has more potential in his rookie year than the other 2 have shown ever. But Wiz made the call, Skelton it is and I'm nbot one to sit to the side secretly hoping Skelton and Kolb fail to get to Lindley. Cardinals need to win...period. Let's fricken do this.

    A good choice
At the end of the year we will all be glad that Whiz went with the kid from Fordham and not the back up from Philly. At least Fan X is not insane by mentioning Lindley a guy who has played against those who have been cut or now on the practice squad. I would like to see the Cards develop JS and win with him, instead of a used up FA.
