Jeter tributes continue, find cover of New Yorker

Sep 1, 2014, 7:14 PM | Updated: 7:40 pm

Subscribers to The New Yorker will tell you — sports rarely find their way into the magazine’s contents. Expect political commentary, long-form features, poems, short stories and arts critiques.

Derek Jeter transcends even that.

In his last season with the New York Yankees, the shortstop has received warm tributes at every road venue he has visited, where gift after gift has been bestowed upon him.

Next week, he’ll again enter the spotlight while depicted on the cover of The New Yorker. The magazine, which cartoons all of its covers, features Jeter’s back, and hallowed No. 2, as he tips his cap to Yankee Stadium.
