Ken Griffey on ASU vs. Stanford: ‘I wish they’d both lose’

Thirteen-time MLB All-Star Ken Griffey, Jr., whose son plays for UA, wouldn’t mind if No. 17 ASU and No. 23 Stanford both find a way to lose this evening.
Alongside Desmond Howard, Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit, Griffey appeared on ESPN College GameDay Saturday morning and made picks for all of Saturday’s top football games — except one, that is.

Griffey explained that an ASU loss would boost the Wildcats’ chances to win the Pac-12 South, but a Stanford loss would make it less likely that the Cats would have to face the Cardinal in the Pac-12 Championship should UA advance that far.
Griffey’s son, Trey, had a mostly-quiet freshman season until he caught a pair of touchdowns in UA’s AdvoCare V100 Bowl win over Boston College. His dad was snapping photos at field level during the game.
This season, Griffey has 15 catches for 144 yards as part of a mega-talented Wildcat receiving core.
For what it’s worth, Howard and Corso picked the Sun Devils to upend Stanford, while Herbstreit picked the Cardinal to win on the road.
