Companies take advantage of ‘DeflateGate’

Jan 21, 2015, 7:01 PM | Updated: 8:05 pm

From as far back as SpyGate to their playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens this season, the New England Patriots have been accused of being, for lack of a better word, questionable. The Patriots are at it once again. Enter DeflateGate.

Sunday evening, the Patriots beat the Indianapolis Colts to win the AFC and advance to Super Bowl XLIX. During the 45-7 blowout, the only controversy was between viewers debating what channel to change to. But real controversy emerged later when the NFL announced its investigation into the Patriots deflating their game balls. Reports came out Tuesday night that the NFL found 11 of the 12 Patriot footballs to be underinflated.

In light of the news, some clever companies are using the controversy to their advantage.
