Comprised of a glazed donut bun, hot dog, a healthy heaping of bacon, and raspberry jelly.
The Kansas City Royals’ Advanced Single-A affiliate teamed with Krispy Kreme and event catering company Centerplate to make the sugary treat possible.
Centerplate general manager Josh Attix had this to say about the ingenuity behind the BlueRocks’ newest item at the concession stands:
When you think about baseball, you think about hot dogs. Krispy Kreme came on as a sponsor last year and challenged us to create something unique that featured their product in the stadium. We worked together to combine the best of what we have to offer, and created sweet and savory, with the raspberry jelly and the bacon on top. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone do this with a hot dog before.
Though an official name is still in the works, the organization is accepting fan submissions on their team website. The winning submission will receive an opening night ticket to the game, in addition to a chance to throw out the game’s first pitch.
Don’t expect the D-backs to proliferate this artery-clogging arms race.
