Rattlers breeze past Chicago

“Welcome back to Trandon Harvey, Virgil Gray, Kevin
McCullough and Cliff Dukes,” Arizona Rattlers’ head coach
Kevin Guy told me on the field after Saturday’s 77-43
pasting of the Chicago Rush at US Airways Center.
Turns out the coach’s assessment was pretty much right on,
as all four players returned from injuries and had their
fingerprints on an impressive win over the Central
Division-leading Rush.
After Chicago scored on their opening possession, Harvey
took back the ensuing kickoff 54 yards for a touchdown.
Later in the first quarter, McCullough picked off a pass
and returned it eight yards for a Rattlers touchdown.
Gray had three passes defensed, and Dukes, although it
didn’t get reflected on the stat sheet, improved the
Rattlers’ pass rush, which was anemic in a loss to San
Jose the week prior.
The Rattlers led by only four at halftime, but opened
things up by outscoring the Rush 21-0 in the third
quarter.
The win pushes the Rattlers’ record to 6-3, and puts them
in a tie for second place in the Western Division with the
Utah Blaze.
The Rattlers visit the Blaze Saturday night in Salt Lake
City.
