Man claims relationship with former Cardinal Kerry Rhodes

Apr 18, 2013, 4:32 PM | Updated: 4:53 pm

For the past few weeks, former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo has stated that up to four gay NFL players could come out of the closet in the near future.

If it occurred, it would be the first time a male athlete in a major league team sport in America has done so.

Last week, photos of former Arizona Cardinals safety Kerry Rhodes surfaced on MediaTakeout.com — including several that looked like romantic shots of Rhodes and another man.

“Photos have been circulating of my former assistant and I that have caused some rumors regarding my sexuality, and I wanted to address the situation,” Rhodes later told TMZ.com “I am not gay.”

Welp.

Rhodes, who was with the Cardinals from 2010 until he was released last month, may have some ‘splanin to do.

Russell “Hollywood” Jackson told the website Bossip.com that he and Rhodes were definitely a couple.

In an interview Jackson, who is supposedly trying to become a reality TV star, may have something to gain by “outing” Rhodes, whether it’s true or not.

However, he says in the interview the only reason he’s gone public is because Rhodes has denied their relationship.

“Yes he actually text me like ‘Hey baby, can you just not say anything about all this’ but that’s what I don’t like. He’s lying because he’s trying to protect his free agency. He’s not going to be one of those guys who come out in the league because he cares too much about that. But why is he lying?? LOOK AT THE PICS!! He loved me and now he’s lying. That’s why I put him out there because he came for me. I’m not here for fame. He wanted me to have a reality show because he said I was destined for it. His teammates said I had a great personality and encouraged me to be on TV. This was our life! This was real!

And in case you were wondering, according to Jackson, Rhodes’ Cardinals teammates were aware of the relationship between the two, which he says lasted about a year.
