Could Alvin Gentry, who was fired from a last place team in January, be joining one that reached the Western Conference Finals.
According to Yahoo!’s Marc Spears, the former Suns coach is set to interview with the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday.
Gentry was contacted by the Grizzlies on Wednesday and is expected to interview with owner Robert Pera and CEO Jason Levien in Washington, D.C. Other coaching candidates include Grizzlies assistant coach Dave Joerger, former Denver Nuggets coach George Karl and Chicago Bulls assistant coach Ed Pickney, a league source said. Memphis is expected to conduct interviews through next week.
Gentry was relieved of his duties by the Suns after compiling a 13-28 record this past season. He owns a career mark of 335-370 as a head coach.
