Can the Arizona Diamondbacks dress as the 1914 Kansas City Packers every day?

The D-backs fought back from a 5-2 ninth-inning deficit to beat the Cubs 7-5 on the day Chicago was celebrating the 100th anniversary of storied Wrigley Field.

Here’s a look at the D-backs’ win, by the numbers:

80

The number of games the Cubs have played since they experienced a three-game winning streak. Chicago beat the San Francisco Giants 2-1 at AT&T Park last July 28 for their third straight victory.

19

Cody Ross’ RBI single in the sixth inning was the outfielder’s first hit of the season. It came in his 19th at-bat.

29

Justin Ruggiano’s two-run home run off of Wade Miley in the sixth inning stretched Chicago’s lead to 5-2 and was the 29th round-tripper allowed by Diamondbacks’ pitching this season — the most in the Major Leagues.

7

The D-backs’ seven runs in the game are the second-most they’ve scored all season and the first time they’ve scored that many since beating the San Francisco Giants 7-3 on Apr. 9.

100

In step with Wrigley’s 100th anniversary, Cubs starter Jeff Samardzija became the first pitcher in 100 years to go 7+ innings and allow two or less earned runs in each of his first five starts of a season and not earn a win.

9/27/11

The Diamondbacks overcame a deficit of at least three runs in the ninth inning or later for the first time since Sept. 27, 2011 when they rallied for six runs in the bottom of the 10th during a 7-6 win over the Dodgers.

4

Aaron Hill had four hits — the 13th time he’s had four hits in a game as a Major Leaguer and the first since Aug. 18, 2013 when he turned the trick against Pittsburgh in a 4-2 win.

42

The number of pitches thrown in the ninth inning by Cubs relievers Pedro Strop, James Russell and Justin Grimm. Seventeen of those were thrown in at-bats by Gerardo Parra (strikeout) and Miguel Montero (game-tying RBI single).

1

Trevor Cahill threw two scoreless innings of relief, striking out three and allowing just one hit to pick up his first win of the year. It was the second relief win in Cahill’s career — the first coming last Aug. 24 in a 12-7, 18-inning win over the Philadelphia Phillies.

1 (again)

Cahill has given up only one hit during six innings of relief since being demoted to the bullpen.
