The Arizona Cardinals had a number of different directions they could have gone with their first-round pick.
They eventually tabbed Washington State safety Deone Bucannon after moving back to the No. 27 pick after a trade with the New Orleans Saints, and here’s how media members and draft experts reacted to the Cardinals’ pick:
#Cardinals get my 4th rated safety… But it was obvious when they traded down that was their target…

Bruce Arians talked last week about the growing importance of having a safety who could cover. Is Deone Bucannon that guy?

I understand the defensive pick @AZCardinals but not picking @derekcarrqb could be a big mistake

Bucannon is 6-1, 211 pounds. He's the big safety the #AZCardinals needed.

Arizona Cardinals secondary:
Patrick Peterson
Antonio Cromartie
Deone Bucannon

I had Bucannon going to the Pats a few picks later and I know the Eagles considered him too. Hits like a jackhammer and has wheels

Bucannon is a big hitter, 6-1 211. #azcardinals could go big in secondary with Cro, Pat P and this guy.

Deone Buchannon didn't make his Varsity HS football team until junior year. Lettered in golf 4 straight years.. Arizona makes perfect sense
