Rockies spell All-Star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki’s name wrong on jersey giveaway

Jul 26, 2014, 11:14 PM | Updated: 11:15 pm

Since their inception before the 1993 season, the Colorado Rockies have been one of the more hapless franchises in Major League Baseball.

In fact, outside of three playoff appearances and a berth in the 2007 World Series, fans in Denver have been treated to some pretty bad baseball.

The 2014 campaign has been no exception.

Heading into play Saturday, the Rockies were an abysmal 42-60 — good for last place in the National League West.

Their lone bright spot this season, as has been the case for the better part of the last half decade, is none other than shortstop Troy Tulowitzki.

Before landing on the disabled list earlier this month, the four-time All-Star was hitting .340 with 21 home runs and 52 RBI.

Apparently those numbers haven’t made him a household name — at least not at Coors Field where he plays his home games.

Saturday, fans at the ballpark were greeted with commemorative No. 2 jersey shirts to honor Tulowitzki, however there was one major problem.

The team spelled its star player’s name wrong.
