Glendale, Ariz. — Sunday was the final day of Arizona Cardinals training camp that would be without pads, and from the sound of it, both players and coaches were looking forward to getting it over with.
Of Note
– Chandler Catanzaro looked good during field goal drills again, appearing to make all five of his attempts. Fellow kicker Danny Hrapmann connected on three of his four tries.
– Second-year pro Alex Okafor has been getting a lot of praise of late. Arians said the light seemed to go on for him around the fourth OTA of the summer.
– Teddy Williams is working to make the transition from receiver to cornerback, and he looked good picking off a Carson Palmer pass late in practice. Making the switch tougher is the fact that Williams is recovering from a ruptured achilles that ended his 2013 season.
– Logan Thomas hit Jaron Brown on a nice deep ball late in practice.
Stat of the Day
The Cardinals intercepted 20 passes last season, but only 10 of those belong to players still on the roster.
Quotes of the Day
“If anybody goes and says they’re starting, you’re writing the wrong thing. They’re lining up first today.” – Bruce Arians on jobs being up for grabs
“I think he probably threw it a little quick. I didn’t get my head around fast enough. (He’s) trying to give people concussions out there, you know.” – Tight end Troy Niklas on getting hit in the helmet with a Logan Thomas pass Saturday
“Obviously missing the whole season man, it kind of gets you itching a little bit, so just getting back out there is a great feeling. Sometimes when you’re sitting on the couch you forget you’re a football player. So getting out there, reminding me what I can do, and I’m ready to help the team.” – Alex Okafor on finally getting a chance to play again
