Arizona Diamondbacks trade Gerardo Parra to Milwaukee Brewers for prospects Mitch Haniger and Anthony Banda

The Arizona Diamondbacks’ crowded outfield just got a little bit less so.
The team announced it has dealt Gerardo Parra to the Milwaukee Brewers for outfielder Mitch Haniger and pitcher Anthony Banda.
Parra, 27, was hitting .259 with six home runs and 30 RBI for the D-backs this season.
Parra had a mostly successful six-year run in Arizona, winning Gold Glove Awards for his defense in 2011 (left field) and 2013 (right field).
He’s a career .274 hitter with 39 home runs, 250 RBI and 51 stolen bases.
In return, the D-backs received a pair of minor league prospects.
Haniger, 23, was a first-round pick of the Brewers’ in the 2012 MLB June Amatuer Draft. In three minor league seasons he has hit .263 with 22 home runs and 110 RBI. This season, for Double-A Huntsville, he has batted .255 with 10 home runs and 34 RBI.
Banda, 20, is a left-handed pitcher who was most recently with Low-A Wisconsin, where he was 6-6 with a 3.66 ERA. In parts of three minor league seasons he posted an 11-13 record with a 4.40 ERA. He has struck 171 batters in 186 innings while walking 87.
