Landon Donovan takes denial to a new level of awesome in Foot Locker ad

Aug 12, 2014, 5:46 PM | Updated: 5:47 pm

The theme of a new series of Foot Locker commercials centers on the idea that pro athletes are taught to have a short memory.

In this new spot, USA soccer star Landon Donovan takes that concept to a new (and hilarious) level.

Donovan, who announced his retirement from soccer last week, scored more goals for the U.S. Men’s National Team than any other player in American soccer history, but he was surprisingly left off the USA’s 2014 World Cup squad.

When former Sun Devil and current Houston Rocket James Harden alludes to this by asking Donovan about his summer, Donovan displays a level of denial paralleled only by Saddam Hussein’s information minister in 2003 (or possibly Charles Barkley and Scottie Pippen in another awesome Foot Locker spot).
