Former Phoenix Suns guard Leandro Barbosa has agreed to a deal with the Golden State Warriors for the upcoming season, according to a story on ESPN.com.

Barbosa will join the Warriors on a one-year deal for the veteran league minimum. The 31-year-old is expected to join Shaun Livingston as a backup behind starter Stephen Curry.

Barbosa played 20 games last season with the Suns, averaging 7.5 points and 1.6 assists per game.

The guard broke into the league with the Suns during the 2003-04 season and spent seven seasons in Phoenix before playing for Toronto, Indiana and Boston. Barbosa made a name for himself coming off of the bench in Phoenix with his fast-paced style of play.

Barbosa won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award in 2006-07 with the Suns and has averaged 11.9 points and 2.3 assists during his 11-year career.

Barbosa will play for his native Brazil in the FIBA World Cup, beginning Saturday in Spain.

The guard reportedly had also drawn interest from the Miami Heat.
