The Arizona Cardinals made history when they hired Dr. Jen Welter as a training camp/preseason intern, as it is believed she is the first woman to have any kind of coaching role with an NFL team.
Introduced to the media Tuesday, Welter talked about living in the moment while she gets to pursue a career she did not always think was an option.
Wednesday, at University of Phoenix Stadium, Welter got started in earnest, getting a chance to take the field and coach the team’s inside linebackers for the first time.
Arizona Cardinals training camp officially begins Friday, when players are to report and take a conditioning test. The first practice — which is open to the public — will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
