A.J. Pollock’s great performance during the Arizona Diamondbacks’ recent road trip was rewarded by Major League Baseball.
Pollock is the National League Player of the Week for Aug. 17-23.
He hit .483 last week with one home run, four RBI, eight runs scored, and five extra-base hits. He also led the majors with 14 hits during that week and had four multi-hit games.
The All-Star found his true form in Cincinnati, where he hit 11-for-15 in the three games he played. He also had four stolen bases in those three games.
Pollock is hitting .324 with 13 home runs and 54 RBI on the season. His 33 steals are the most for a D-back since Eric Byrnes’ 50 in 2007.
The D-backs recent four-game sweep of the Reds brought them within five games of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL west standings.
