Hunt for LA shooting suspect includes Arizona

This undated photo released by the Los Angeles Police Department shows suspect Christopher Dorner, a former Los Angeles officer. Dorner, who was fired from the LAPD in 2008 for making false statements, is linked to a weekend killing in which one of the victims was the daughter of a former police captain who had represented him during the disciplinary hearing. Authorities believe Dorner opened fire early Thursday on police in cities east of Los Angeles, killing an officer and wounding another. Police issued a statewide "officer safety warning" and police were sent to protect people named in the posting that was believed to be written by Dorner. (AP Photo/Los Angeles Police Department)

Arizona authorities said they've been alerted about the manhunt for a disgruntled former Los Angeles police officer wanted in a deadly shooting rampage.

Thousands of police officers throughout Southern California and neighboring states are searching for 33-year-old Christopher Dorner.

The hunt reportedly has spread to Arizona, Nevada and Mexico.

Arizona Department of Public Safety officials said an "attempt to locate" advisory went out to officers in the central Arizona and northern Arizona districts about 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

DPS spokesman Bart Graves said the advisory gave a description of the vehicle Dorner may be driving. Graves said the advisory went out to all DPS officers in the two Arizona districts that cover the Phoenix metropolitan area, Casa Grande, Flagstaff, Kingman, Prescott and Holbrook.
