Ashton Kutcher sat down with Jay Leno on "The Tonight Show" to discuss what inspired him to take on the role of Steve Jobs in the upcoming biopic, "Jobs."

Kutcher had an opportunity to meet Jobs but he had to work.

"I look back and think, I had an opportunity to meet the Leonardo da Vinci of our generation," Kutcher told Leno. "That really affected my decision to take on the role."

The actor then explained where he was the moment he first heard the news of Jobs' passing.

"I pulled my car to the side of the road and kind of took a moment," Kutcher recalled. "I got home and I realized that all the relationships that I have in my life are held together by glue that he laid down."

The Apple co-founder and longtime CEO died in October 2011 after a long battle with cancer.

"Jobs" will be released in theaters on Aug. 16.
