'Veronica Mars' fan-funded flick gets its first trailer

Veronica Mars fans can finally catch a glimpse of the show's forthcoming film adaptation, thanks in part to the over $5.7 million its Kickstarter campaign gathered in February. (Warning: Language used in the below trailer may offend some viewers.)

The clip, which debuted on Thursday's episode of E! News, shows a grown-up Mars (Kristen Bell) returning to her fictitious hometown of Neptune, Calif. and learns about her former boyfriend's legal troubles -- he's accused of murdering his girlfriend.

The popular TV series first aired on UPN network in 2004 before moving to the CW in 2006. While the show saw a gradual ratings increases throughout each season, in 2007, screenwriter Rob Thomas announced it was canceled.

The fan-funded film, starring most of the original cast, arrives in select theaters on March 14.
