DISH: Beyonce's Super Bowl leather has PETA in a lather

Beyonce performs during the halftime show of the NFL Super Bowl XLVII football game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens, Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, in New Orleans

Beyonce Knowles has attracted the ire of animal-rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) for wearing leather during her halftime performance at Sunday's Super Bowl.

According to the New York Times, Knowles' outfit was made of leather along with strips of python and iguana. Knowles' use of all that animal hide did not sit well with PETA, who accused the singer of being out of touch with shifting fashion trends.

PETA said, "We would take a bet that if Beyoncé watched our video exposés... she'd probably not want to be seen again in anything made of snakes, lizards, rabbits or other animals who died painfully.

Today's fashions are trending toward humane vegan options, and Beyoncé's Super Bowl outfit missed the mark on that score.

John Travolta's cruise ship case dropped.

The attorneys for John Travolta and a cruise ship worker accusing the actor of assault agreed to the dismissal of a high-profile lawsuit.

A ship attendant said that upon request, he gave Travolta a neck massage, Travolta allegedly disrobed, exposed himself and then "forcefully embraced" him.

On Friday, a judge denied Travolta's attempt to throw it into arbitration.

On Monday, the parties agreed to drop the case.

Obama's speechwriter leaving White House to pen screenplays.

President Obama's head speechwriter, Jon Favreau, is poised for a big career change. The speechwriter, who was just 23 when he joined then-Senator Obama's staff, will leave his job March 1st and is considering pursuing a career writing scripts.

During his time writing for the prez, Favreau became a bit of a celebrity himself, dating actress Rashida Jones (NBC's Parks and Recreation) and taking her to the 2007 White House Correspondents' Dinner.

He was named one of People's most beautiful people in the world in 2009 and has been touted as an influential figure by GQ, Time and Vanity Fair.

Favreau's friends say he is interested in following in the footsteps of former Obama speechwriter Jon Lovett, who went on to co-create NBC's political comedy 1600 Penn.

Favreau plans on staying in Washington for the immediate future, but may move to Los Angeles.

This, of course, would be Prince William and Kate Middleton's official babymoon. A family source says the pair is at the exclusive Caribbean island. They are said to be staying at a private villa that is costing them $30,000 a week.

D.A. to Chris Brown: We don't buy your community-service claims!

A new motion filed Tuesday dropped the big news that Chris Brown appears to have faked community service the Los Angeles court had allowed him to perform in his home state, Virginia.

The D.A.'s office is asking that Brown's community-service claims be rejected due to what L.A. County District Attorney Jackie Lacey called "significant discrepancies indicating at best sloppy documentation and at worst fraudulent reporting."

The D.A. said Tuesday that Brown failed to provide "credible, competent or verifiable evidence" that he completed his court-ordered community labor. The D.A. is asking the court not to revoke Brown's probation but rather to order the singer to perform all his community service in L.A., under the supervision of the county Probation Department.
