Scott Weiland claims he thought he was still flying with the Stone Temple Pilots, until he read in the press that he was kicked out of the band.
"I learned of my supposed 'termination' from Stone Temple Pilots this morning by reading about it in the press. Not sure how I can be 'terminated' from a band that I founded, fronted and co-wrote many of its biggest hits, but that's something for the lawyers to figure out. In the meantime, I'm looking forward to seeing all of my fans on my solo tour which starts this Friday."
A statement released by the band's publicist Wednesday morning read: "Stone Temple Pilots have announced they have officially terminated Scott Weiland."
Madonna snubs former best friend Demi Moore.
Madonna has dumped her former party co-host Demi Moore in favor of her friend's younger ex-husband Ashton Kutcher.
It seems Madonna is on team Ashton, after the actor and not his former wife attended Madonna's annual post-Oscar party. Ashton was spotted partying the night away at the event held in a private home on Sunday, but Demi was noticeably absent.
Demi had co-hosted the event with the pop star in 2011 - she was unable to do the same in 2012 because she was in rehab after her split with Ashton - but this year the actress was not even in attendance, let alone hosting.
A source says:
"Madonna is firmly on the side of Ashton. She adores him and thinks that out of him and Demi he's the one with the glittering career. Also, Madonna loves having Ashton around as he's great eye candy, he's funny and he flirts outrageously with her."
Rachel McAdams, Michael Sheen split.
Rachel McAdams is back on the market. The actress has ended her real-life romance with Midnight in Paris costar Michael Sheen. McAdams and Sheen took their romance public in October 2010 after meeting on the set of Woody Allen's film.
During her relationship with the British actor, the pair remained steadfastly devoted to making it work.
When they were still together, McAdams said: "Michael and I never spend more than three weeks apart we rack up a lot of air miles but you have to be quite adaptable in this business whether you are in a relationship or not."
McAdams last serious relationship prior to Sheen was with her Notebook costar Ryan Gosling. The two began dating in 2005 and were briefly engaged, but called it off in 2007.
Sheen had an eight-year relationship with actress Kate Beckinsale from 1995 until 2003.

Mark Wahlberg on Ted's Jewish jokes Oscar's controversy.
Mark Wahlberg understands why people were offended by some of the jokes that Seth MAcFarlane's Ted character made during their appearance together on the Oscars, but he also says they meant no harm.
Jewish watchdogs groups blasted the cracks made by Ted about Jews running Hollywood.
"Hopefully people don't take themselves too seriously," he said. "It was meant to entertain and that's it." Besides, he said, "I can't control what Ted says. He's got a potty mouth. He's got a mind of his own. If I tell him not to say something he's going to push the envelope even further."

The singer had been so excited about the prospect of parenthood, he entrusted the movie start and new mom with the gossip months before announcing the news to fans in January.
Honey Boo Boo using Facebook to sell cookies.
Well this just seems unfair. Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson, the pint-sized and over-caffeinated star of TLC's Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, is using facebook to sell Girl Scout cookies.
Given her celebrity status, and 700,000 fans on the social media site, it's a safe bet that she'll do alright sales-wise. Boxes run for $3.50 each.
Thompson's fan page says each box will be signed by the Boo Boo herself and include an autographed pictured of the family.
Rick Schroder denies hitting airport worker.
Rick Schroder has responded to an allegation that he hit a female airport worker at LAX on Monday.
The actor said he never assaulted anyone earlier this week and called the whole thing a "complete misunderstanding."
Sharing his side of story in the incident, he recalled: "My phone dropped and I went to grab it ... and that's what happened."
He, however, apologized to the accuser: "I apologize to you, Miss, if I hurt your feelings and I didn't mean to. Sweetheart, god bless you ... and I didn't mean to hurt your feelings."
Previously, the airport worker claimed she was checking boarding passes when Ricky attempted to go through security with three bags on Monday morning.
After told that he was allowed to carry two bags, he allegedly insisted on three and slapped the woman's hand when she tried to reach his boarding pass. Police were called to the scene and they interviewed both parties, but no arrest was made.
Schroder's lawyer said the woman was rude and confrontational. The attorney says there were witnesses who support the actor's story.
