Earlier this week, the New York Giants released safety Will Hill, a player facing a third drug-related suspension.
Some would have you believe that he wasn’t out of football very long.
NFL.com, CBSSports.com and SI.com all reported Friday that Hill has signed a contract with the Arizona Rattlers of the Arena Football League.
Hill did sign with the Rattlers, but back in 2012 after going undrafted out of the University of Florida.
The Rattlers press release that is linked to on various outside reports also trumpets the signing of defensive backs Arkeith Brown and Da’Mon Merkerson. The press release is over two years old.
Since Hill landed in the NFL, his rights were retained by the Rattlers and he was placed on the ‘Other League Exempt’ list. Earlier this week, Hill was placed on the ‘Refused to Report’ list, fueling speculation about his future with the Rattlers.
Brown is currently in his third year with the Rattlers, and has developed into one of the best defensive backs in the league. Merkerson played sparingly in 2012 and 2013 for the Rattlers, accumulating 14 total tackles and one interception.
The two-time defending Arena Bowl champion Rattlers (11-0) look to match the best start in league history in Portland Friday night against the Thunder (3-8).
