Christine McVie had been an integral part of Fleetwood Mac for the better part of three decades composing and singing the band's first top 20 hit, "Over My Head," in 1975.
She retired from the group after their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. Her first solo album came in 1970, it was called Christine Perfect, Perfect being her maiden name before marrying Fleetwood Mac bassist John McVie.
Her second solo album came 14 years later, also self-titled but this time as Christine McVie. That album delivered her only solo hit, it reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the hit had already been a No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary Chart when on this date in 1984, "Got a Hold on Me" hit the No. 1 spot on the Mainstream Rock chart as well.
