Robert Griffin III helps high school student ask classmate with cerebral palsy to prom

Robert Griffin III has emerged as a fan favorite through his two-plus seasons in the NFL, and for good reason.

The uber athletic quarterback out of Baylor has flashed a likeable personality and overcome some significant adversity in his young career, and he seems to connect with NFL fans in a way that not many players do.

Here's another great reason for RGIII to be a fan favorite -- he recently helped a high school student ask a classmate with cerebral palsy to prom, and WJLA-TV in Virginia was able to get it on video.

The Washington Redskins quarterback is 17-year-old Juwaan Espinal's favorite player, and despite Espinal being non-verbal, has a circle of friends that reached out to Griffin -- who then happily agreed to make the surprise appearance at Virginia's Centreville High School.

A group of friends led by classmate Morgan Assel walked up to Espinal with a banner that read "I know I'm not as cool as RGIII, but will you go to the prom with me?" and Griffin emerged from behind the banner to Espinal's delight.
