Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt is earning the headlines for his play this season, scoring touchdowns on both sides of the ball and playing like a front-runner for NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
But now Watt is getting attention for his standout acts off the field.
As a token of gratitude for their hard work, Watt had pizza delivered to Houston police and fire departments on Tuesday, according to The Big Lead’s Ryan Glasspiegel.
A handwritten note from Watt accompanied the pizzas, saying that the Texan’s father and uncle were firefighters, helping him build a great amount of respect for the under-appreciated workers. Watt also wrote that although he and other athletes get attention from fans, these hard-working men, along with those in the military, deserve the attention for putting their own well-being aside to help others.
