It’s a little tough for Arizona fans to ever root for the Yankees, but this is pretty dang cool.
NYPD officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu were shot and killed while on duty and sitting in their squad car Saturday.
Now, former Yankees owner George Steinbrenner’s Yankee Silver Shield Foundation will pay for the education of Ramos’ sons, one of whom is 13 and another who is in college.
Liu had recently married and had no children.
For 32 years, the foundation has reportedly paid for the educations of thousands of children of fallen NYPD, FDNY, state police and Port Authority workers in the tri-state area alongside 700 children who lost a parent in the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.
