Levi Brown’s future is up in air

Jan 6, 2012, 10:01 PM | Updated: 10:12 pm

Arizona Cardinals offensive tackle Levi Brown may have
played well over the second half of the 2011 season, but
inconsistency in the first four-and-a-half years of his
career have left many disappointed with his play.

Brown is due a pay increase from his recent $5 million to
$8.3 million, but the team will likely release him before
paying that kind of money for an inconsistent player.

Would Brown leaving be good for the team?.

“The offensive line and Levi Brown — one of those guys up
front — has been very inconsistent all season long, and a
lot of these things are mental busts,” ESPN NFL analyst
Ron Jaworski told Arizona Sports 620’s Burns and Gambo
Friday.

The former Penn State lineman, who was drafted fifth
overall in 2007 over Adrian Peterson, had a resurgence the
last half of the 2011 season. However, he is still unable
to efficiently protect the quarterback and stay clear of
penalties.

“I think physically Levi knows who to block and for the
most part his technique is good, but way too many mental
busts from the offensive line.”
