If you're anything like us, the idea of Peyton Manning in an Arizona Cardinals uniform is as great as it is far- fetched.

After all, if Manning is healthy and if the Colts decide to cut him, he would only come to the desert if he wants to and, even then, only if the team decides it doesn't want to continue with Kevin Kolb.

In other words, plenty has to happen between now and the production of No. 18 Manning jerseys in Cardinal Red.

However, anyone who thinks CBS NFL analyst Charley Casserly brought up the idea for pretty much no reason doesn't know Casserly, according to ESPN's Ron Jaworski.

"Charley Casserly is one of the most respected guys in the National Football League," Jaworski told Arizona Sports 620's Burns and Gambo. "He's not a blogger out there pulling things out of the air and trying to get people's attention.

"Charley thinks everything out; he is well-connected to every single person in the National Football League."

So at the very least, Cardinals fans can move along under the impression that Casserly didn't connect one of the best QBs in the NFL to the Cardinals for no reason other than shock value.

"He doesn't say things unless he has sources that give him good information," Jaworski added. "When he comes out with a story there's some validity to it."

Why would Manning (a pocket qb) want to play
for the Cards with our crappy pass protection O-line? If he is cut by the Colts it would make more sense for him to go to the 9ers who have a better O-Line.

    Any team
I think this article and all rumors could have the Cardinals name replaced with (team who has qb troubles name).....just saying. Nowhere near free agency, the season technically isnt even over. The colts havent officially drafted Luck, Kolb is still a Cardinal and sources HERE on this very website say he will be a cardinal next year. But, somehow this guy has inside sources manning to cards is a possibility. Manning gets cut, manning to 31 other teams is a possibility.

    Manning's Contract
has the 28M roster bonus. That and his balky neck are a massive incentive to dump him. His first thought would be where can he go to win now AND be able to play golf through the winter months. That limits it to AZ, Miami & Tampa. If AZ drafts an OT and WR in the first two rounds and picks up another OL and pass rusher either in FA or in rounds 3 or 4 of the draft, a QB like Peyton could make them a SB contender. And don’t under-estimate the power of a golf addiction. He's a 3 handicap and has played pro-ams with Tiger. You don’t get to that point without being addicted.

    Not Buying and Also...
Not buying what this "insider" is selling. @OpinionH8ed: The Cardinals do not have a 2nd rounder - that's in Philly. As long as Whisenhunt is in charge, you will continue to see old Pittsburgh Steelers and because of that I'd believe them landing Hines Ward over Manning.

    Dreaming
is nice. But Indys O line is not that great and he gets his reads off quick and the ball out. Kolb is a disaster and anyone is better than him. I think any fan would love to have Manning on their team, but I dont see that happening and I see the Cards paying Kolb his bonus. Indy will try to move him via trade moreso than waive him. Mediocrity = AZ teams.

Why would Manning want to play here?
Ever spend a winter in Indiana? Trust me, I grew up there, there's nothing there except corn. Cards will fix the line problem, I'm not worried about that. We need someone to lead this team to the promisedland. Neither QB's we have will do that any time soon. Keep dreaming about Skelton, show me a 4 quarter effort first before thinking he can lead us anywhere. He did ok in the 4th qtrs but Campbell and Peterson bailed him out, otherwise he would've had a losing record. Gimme Manning in a heartbeat!

    genuinely read about his injury
He's never going to be the same. After repetative throwing motions he will develop artheritis in his upper spine which will cause discomfort and pain. He will not be able to play comfortably for more than a year and a half (that's being gracious). Then we're back to square one again guys! It'd be better to hire him as a QB coach. The guy was great but his age and reputicous throws have caught up to him. Let's move on. His contract would be the killer. If you've seen that movie Money Ball w/ Brad Pitt & Jonah Hill, you'll get what I'm saying. Cards need to be like Brad Pitt in that movie.
