The Cardinals have the 13th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, and many think the team will be looking for offensive line help when they make their selection.

ESPN NFL Draft guru Mel Kiper is one of them.

Kiper's latest mock draft, version 1.0, has the Cardinals taking Stanford tackle Jonathan Martin with their pick.

At 6-foot-6 and 304 pounds, Martin could be a big help to a team that featured the worst pair of tackles in the NFL. He was a 2nd Team All-American this season, and could fill a need if Levi Brown departs as a free agent.

However, Martin is known for his run blocking more than pass protection, so he may not be exactly what the Cardinals want.

Should the Cardinals take Martin -- or any other offensive lineman in the first round -- it will be the first time they've spent an early pick on the line since taking the aforementioned Levi Brown in 2007.

And we all know how that turned out.

how does martin compare to levi brown? what other lineman could be available at our pick? other than being a 2nd team all american, what did he accomplish at stanford? just some basic questions that pop to mind that i would like to have seen addressed in the original article.

Card's do not need another run blocking LT
I think we got that one and his name be Levi. Now if the Cards can't restructure Levi's contract, I hope they would not draft another run blocker over a pass protector. Maybe tape will show Martin has the skill set to be a great pass protection guy; if not, I think the Cards would have to pass on this guy.

i dnt think the current OT's r the prob
I think the problem is the offensive line coach. These guys can't coach themselves! If it were the players' fault Whiz would've said so. They should draft with the "best player available" approach not by need. UNLESS, the player you need IS the BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE.

I have read many of your post, and i gotta ask you, do you even know what your talking about sometimes.. Sometimes it sounds like you just pull crap out off your butt just to hear yourself talk. I can't believe people are comparing him to Levi Brown, as if Levi is held as such high standards. Fire Levi unless you can get him for cheap, and reconstruct our line. Our QB has to have timeto throw the ball, also line is also in charge of making holes for our running back. If you watched Colledge was a pick up from Green Bay last Yr. Beanie got most his yard running behind him.

    Either Kalil, Reiff or Martin
Will fit. Brown will end up on the right side for alot less money (if he is smart about it) - I bet he plays alot better in his natural position, too. I watched all three guys above play in several games and each are very good. The Cards would be fortunate to land any of them. I hope they do. Hoever, I must say, I would take Reiff first, the Martin, then Kalil. Why? The University of Spoiled Children (USC) breeds way too many premadonnas - despite his pedigree (Kalil) and performance to date - I am not confident o fany player coming out of that school. They always seem to bring heavy luggage.

Don't bother with FitzIsMyHero - guy is the biggest joke on this site and isn't even a Cards fan. Hey Fitz - it's funny you blame Kolb and Beanie for the teams struggles, but don't blame a bad offensive line? You obviously don't watch any of their games. Do us all a favor and just stop. You should really adhere to the motto "it's better to look like an idiot, then to open your mouth and remove all doubt." You're a joke. Die_hard_cards_fan, you are right - Colledge was the best part of the line. We need more players like him.

    @ Die hard,
I said was that The Cards should draft the "best player available" and that the the problem with the O lines is the O Line coach. What part of that doesnt make sense to you? @ PP: Doesnt that statement from me establish that I agree the O Line is the issue. I've said a lot of things are wrong with this offense (am I right?). I've previously said that the O Line's struggles contributed to Kolbs struggles. I've also said Kolb isn't as good as you guys think. I've said Beanie isnt as good as you think. You dont have to agree w/ me guys.

    Everyone
has an opinion and to encourage different opinions let's stay away from personal attacks on the sports thread. IMO we should draft another difference maker on defense. We went 8-8 with not so good pass protection. We can make it another year. I say a strong ILB like Hightower from Alabama. He's a leader, he's big, and he's fast. Built to take on the likes of the SF and Seahawk run games. However, if Levi is not signed then an OT may be a necessity. As for coaching, I have been around enough to know you gotta have talent and we don't have the talent.

Get the best player on the board not the player you need UNLESS the player you need is the best player on the board. Listen diehard & PP... I couldn't agree with you more (that we need OT's)... But judging from the past, picking the player we need didn't pan out well for the Cards. This team can use help everywhere! ILB, CB, S, RB, TE, WR, OL, etc... Pick the best guy available. It works...
