Cardinals are the favorite to land Peyton Manning?

The Arizona Cardinals are one of many teams expected to pursue Colts QB Peyton Manning once he's released by the team.

Manning would be an instant upgrade over their current QBs, and if healthy would make the Cardinals immediate Super Bowl contenders.

Still, they'll have to compete with everyone else for future Hall of Famer's services, with the Jets, Dolphins and Redskins being a few of the teams mentioned.

Well, good news, Cardinals fans.

According to sports betting site Bovada, the Cardinals are the odds-on- favorite to land the QB this offseason.

The Cardinals are listed as 2:1 favorites, followed by the Redskins at 5:2, Dophins at 3:1 and Jets at 7:2.

The Colts, who are expected to release the QB, are listed at 7:1.

While this could be reason for optimism (if not plain celebration), it's worth noting that the people who set these lines have been wrong before.

After all, the Patriots were 3-point favorites in Sunday's Super Bowl...

I would like nothing more than to see this guy behind center next season but nothing is for sure! All this speculation is great but the Colts still have the option on this guy of keeping him so until that happens he's a Colt. BUT, hoe freakin awesome would it be for him to be a Red Bird?!

They have allready said that they will be choosing A.Luck #1. ALuck has publicly stated he wants/is ready to start for the Colts. Manning will be owed 28 million in early march if Indi wants him. Also, all of Mannings peeps are gone in Indi as well. Indi is not going to keep Manning; whether the Cards want him probably depends on a physical and whether Payton can throw the ball for a long period(60 minutes) of time.

I was not for either team this Super Bowl but after the Giants won it dawned on me, what better way to motivate even more than before for Peyton to sign with the best contender/team in need of a quarterback then his brother one up'n him in SB wins? (let alone winning a ring in the stadium he built) Now publicly that will never be admitted, but these are two very competitive brothers. And of course a lot has to happen for him to sign in the desert. To surmise, the Giants winning only added to the speculation Peyton will lean on signing with the best playoff contender available to him.

Are right. Manning still has to pass AZ's physical. But before they can get him for a physical they have to do things to get him here. Peyton knows that the O Line cannot pass block and the only consistant reciever on the team is Fitz. But Fitz is a beast tho. He knows that. Plus Beanie is a 1000 yd back. They have a lot of holes on that offense. I don't see him in AZ unless management fills those holes. I don't think Manning is looking to be the highest paid QB. He wants another ring. But he wants to join a team commited to winning one. Indy didn't show him that.

I may be in the minority... I do not want to see Payton in a Cardinals uniforn. This would be an expensive and short term solution. Let Kevin and John fight for the position. We were pretty good once John got some reps under his feet.

For reasons of fairness, I must state that I am not a Cardinals fan. I have no preference for any NFL team but would have preferred the powers that were waited for an NFL expansion team to land here in Phoenix. With that written, if Peyton Manning were to be signed by the Cards, it would be comparable to Sir Charles signing with the Suns. It's still a long shot by all means. I wish the Cards luck. That Super Bowl with them playing was pretty darn good.
