Warner: It's all about finding the right fit for Peyton Manning

Arizona Cardinals fans think Peyton Manning would be a great fit for their team. However, does the QB feel the same way about the Cardinals?

That could be the determining factor for where the future Hall of Famer plays next season, according to former Cardinal Kurt Warner, and as of now he's unsure of where Manning will end up.

"I believe he wants it to be in Indianapolis, but I'm not sure he or anyone else believes that's in the cards," Warner told Arizona Sports 620's Doug and Wolf. "That becomes the next challenge; if it's not Indianapolis, you've got to find the right fit for Peyton Manning."

Warner said the team will have to be able to protect the 36-year-old QB, especially as he's returning from a serious injury, as well as tailor its offense to fit Manning's skill-set.

Warner talked Giants and Mannings
"We all have heard and we know Indianapolis was designed around Peyton," Warner said. "It's not as easy to pick that up and take it to a new situation and apply it to 52 other guys and apply it to a new coaching staff and have all the pieces around to run that offense."

The Cardinals' coaching staff has proven it is willing to adapt to fit the QB, as the team was very pass-heavy when Warner was under center. However, the offensive line could be an issue, as it ranks near the bottom of the NFL in pass protection.

And the possibility of repeatedly getting hit by defenders may just be enough to steer Manning away from Arizona.

  • Manning and Nash in a similiar situation

Except Mannings situation is a little worse. In Mannings' case, Indi allready has the heir apparent in Luck. I don't personally think that situation is anything Manning would want. His coaches are gone. Indi is rebuilding and they have their next QB. His job would be more than what Indi should ask of anyone that has allready done so much for an organization. He is not Indi's gift that just keeps giving. They are the ones moving in a different direction. He has earned the right to do the same and pursue that 2nd NFL title.

statement that "The Cardinals' coaching staff has proven it is willing to adapt to fit the QB, as the team was very pass-heavy when Warner was under center." We were pass heavy, but the Cards did not get the personel needed to protect Warner. Warner might have finished his contract and signed a new one with the Cards if the Cards had been more willing to protect him better through the OL personel. Taking care of the QB, especially and OLD one is essential but was not done in the draft or FA in regards to Warner.

I disagree. Yes, they were very pass heavy with Warner. Skelton averaged over 34 attempts per game this year. I think its a huge misconception that Wiz wants a run first offense. Other than talk about "Steeler Football", he has never shown he is committed to the run.
