After weeks of speculation, the Arizona Cardinals have made their decison regarding quarterback Kevin Kolb, according to Suzy Kolber of ESPN via Adam Schefter.

According to Kent Somers of The Arizona Republic and Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com, the Cardinals converted the roster bonus to an "option bonus", allowing them to prorate the bonus over four years and lowering Kolb's cap number from 10.5 million to 4.75 million -- a savings of over 5 million for next season.

The decision on the roster bonus had been clouded by a couple of factors. Firstly, their interest in signing free agent quarterback Peyton Manning and secondly by Kolb's injury- plagued 2011 campaign. Kolb missed 7 games last season with turf toe and a concussion.

Arizona acquired Kolb in a trade with Philadelphia at the conclusion of the NFL lockout last summer, sending former Pro Bowl cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a second round pick to the Eagles.

Kolb threw for 1,955 yards and 9 touchdowns while compiling a QB rating of 81.1 in his first season as a Cardinal.

This, of course, effectively ends the Cardinals' pursuit of Manning, who is reportedly considering Denver, Tennessee and San Francisco during his recruitment process.

    I hope they put so much talent around this that he doesnt have a excuse to suck as bad as he did last year. i dont think this guy is the future at all. he has so much to prove. and this year is his year to do it. if whiz, graves, and the bidwills cant get this team to playoffs in 2 yrs im firing them all and never buying cardinal tickets or memorabilia ever again! i could care less what you guys think about this statement. the cardinals are a investment to me. i buy tickets and jerseys and hats because i want a championship in return.

    this ivestment hasnt returned dividends since i been putting money into it. What do you do when a stock doesn’t gain and gives you a loss? You freakin dump it. You cut your losses and dump it. If the cards still want my money they better do a lot better than just signing Snyder gosh darn it! Michael Bidwill talking bout making this team a contender? So far hes been sitting on his fat over-nutritioned back end. NOW, THE NINERS HAVE MOSS AND MIGHT SIGN MANNING!

    It stinks that Manning isn't coming here, but let's not forget the momentum we had in the 2nd half of last season. As for Kolb, he'll get his fair shot but he'll be on a short leash this year. If we start 0-4, Whiz won't hesitate to put Skelton in, and he'll do fine.

    I've done nothing but listen to Manning to Arizona rumors for the last week on every radio station in the valley. Not because I want to, but because that's all they talk about. Really there are more sports out there then just football. Anyway I laugh because every commentator spoke as if Manning had already made his decision and was coming here. "Objectively this is the best place for Manning to go." Now, like always, they have their foot in their mouth because this is almost a certain sign that he's not.

    I hope you guys give up tickets so I can get them. Arizona does not need you as fans. Obviously, you do not understand football or this team! 36 year old quarterback with 4 major neck surgeries and now wants the same money he had in INDY. ARE YOU SERIOUS? You guys make Arizona look bad. Levi Brown is better than nobody! Switch him to right and we have two good guards. Oh and the BEST WIDE RECEIVER IN THE NFL! GO CARDS!

    Ok so Manning is not coming to AZ..... But why keep Kobe? He did nothing for us last year and he is not the face of the Cardinals.. How quickly we forget that Skelton carried us through the best half of the year.. Cut Kobe and we can pick up a free agent or draft… Please explain this to me...
