It's time for everyone who followed the Peyton Manning saga to come to terms with the fact that the Cardinals are sticking with the same quarterbacks they had at the conclusion of the 2011 season.

Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt stated that they'll go into next season deciding between Kevin Kolb and John Skelton for the starting spot, just like last year.

But more pressure is on Kolb, who was chosen as a starter last season and whose future with the team was up in the air when the Cards waited to give him a $7 million roster bonus.

Instead of just focusing on getting back into playing form, Kolb has additional work to do.

ESPN's John Clayton told Arizona Sports 620's Doug and Wolf Friday that Kolb's next move should be earning back the trust of the franchise and his teammates.

"Now Kevin's got to, I think, win back the organization and win back the locker room," Clayton said. "He's never had an offseason to work with the Cardinals. Now he'll have that, but I think what it does show is that there are some questions in the organization's mind whether this was a good move or not."

In Kolb's first season with the Cardinals coming from the Eagles, he posted a 2-6 record, and could only watch as his backup Skelton led the team to six wins. Kolb completed 59.4% of his passes while throwing for 1,955 yards last season in limited action.

Though it may seem that the Cardinals are moving on from the Manning saga, Clayton said that everything is probably not okay between Kolb and the organization.

"You can see that there are some questions that I guess the organization has or they wouldn't take the rare opportunity to go for Peyton Manning, and they were all in on Peyton. So now, not getting him, it's like ‘okay let's patch things up; you get your $7 million,'" Clayton said. "They're going to naturally, by giving him the $7 million, say ‘everything's great,' but still you have to see some doubt with the way they handle things."

This will be an entertaining season.
I would bet that if Kolb does not play at least 80% of the games this season, he will not be on the roster come next season.

    Not really!
Trust comes with wins. Wins come with greater proficiency, harder work and leadership. Kolb needs to work on proficiency at the QB position, then work harder than those that are proficient, and THEN, lead his team. Trust comes when you lead effectively and prove it on and off the field with wins. You cant put the cart in front of the horse! Please stop printing these stupid articles and I will stop with my philosophical rants!

    Panic
I would panic but look at all 3 teams left in the manning race. Tebow is going to go through this, Alex Smith will, hell even Hasselback, even more so Jake Locker for how the titans came and played when he was filling in. Hell the titans owner said manning is the guy they want....PERIOD...no locker or matt. Everyone goes through this in the nfl at some point. Nothing new. Just giving the cirumstances of how hard we pushed for this guy is why its a big deal.

    Success starts up front
Your right, I don’t see Kolb playing 80% of the games next year either, why? If they don’t do anything with the O-line he won’t make it past the 3rd game. . This Organization has completely failed!! Everyone knows it but they continue to blame Kolb. Every great team knows to have a successful QB/team it starts up front PERIOD!! Cardinal’s o-line is the biggest joke.

    I love Kolb, BUT...
I am sick of hearing about how this Manning thing has given him a fragile "psyche" (see Vince Marotta's article). This is a MAN'S SPORT. There is no room for feeling sorry for yourself. As Vince Lombardi said, its not important how many times you get knocked to your knees, but how many times you get back up. Kolb now has the best opportunity of ANYONE in the league to take a talented franchise onto his shoulders, prove all the naysayers wrong, and win the hearts of Cards fans everywhere. IM IN!!! GO CARDS!!

    Okay with this
They DID go 7-2 with these guys. I blame the no offseason for their first half struggles and I think that's realistic. I expect them to make the playoffs this year via wildcard.

I agree bonedoc and the psyche thing
but Kolbs psyche was fragile way before PM. How many games did he play last year? Almost2009 nailed it with the O-line, that's where the fragile psyche starts, who wouldn't be. The cards took themselves out of the PM running the minute they restructered Levi. Fix the O-line and good things will happen.

It's not all about the X's and O's for Kolb...
...it's also about the heart he has to stick it out and play. He missed how many games due to injury last year? I think Whisenhunt, and the rest of the team for that matter, don't place all the teams losses fully on Kolb's shoulders. He didn't have an offseason and he had to come to a different style offense. I'm not entirely certain, other than maybe Brett Favre, who could have done much better than Kolb did with the offensive line we have. The real issue is, in my opinion, how he handled his injuries. It seemed to me like he wanted to be on the sidelines....

    I don't think the manning
thing matters..And yes the cards have a lot of work to do on the O-line and receiver core..But you can't deny the they looked a lot better with Skelton running the show..hopefully a full training camp will help Kolb..I would like to see him be worth the pay..It bothers me that the cards are doing the same old thing..passing on all the expensive free agense hoping to get good players cheap..
