Just three days after eliminating the Arizona Cardinals as a free agent possibility, Peyton Manning has made his decision.

According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, Manning has chosen to sign with the Denver Broncos.

Then, ESPN insider Adam Schefter jumped into the fray as well...

Manning had five teams on his radar at one point or another after being released by the Indianapolis Colts on March 7.

The future Hall of Fame quarterback visited the Broncos first, followed by a visit to Arizona and the Cardinals just a day later. He also visited with the Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Titans and had a secret workout with the San Francisco 49ers all before making his intentions known Monday morning.

In fact, according to Schefter, Manning was very close to choosing the 49ers.

"Peyton Manning's head was telling him the San Francsico 49ers, but his heart was telling him the Denver Broncos," he said on ESPN's Sportscenter. "That ultimately is what he decided."

Schefter added that Manning loved the idea of playing for the 49ers, but decided he did not want to change conferences and go to the NFC.

Manning missed the entire 2011 campaign as he recovered from four separate surgeries on his neck. Without him, the Colts went 2-14 and have the number one pick in April's NFL Draft, with which they are expected to take Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck.

With Denver being the choice, trade talks are expected to begin immediately surrounding Tim Tebow, who led the Broncos during a 6-game winning streak, an AFC West title and a playoff win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2011.

glad he didnt choose san fran, but i hope smith stays with them. we know his ceiling is pretty low, if they turn to someone else they could actually improve! i honestly would never have guessed manning felt that strongly about staying in the afc though..

Where the SF fans at now?
Manning to Denver was the best news we could have gotten. I'm praying Alex Smith leaves them in the dust. What a big turnaround in a few days. SF fans are sure quiet now (I'm looking at you The Big Truth). Nothing better than watching them choke on their words. GO CARDS!

    Should be interesting
Maybe I am wrong but can't see how a future Hall of Fame QB is going to get away with telling a current Hall of Fame QB what the offense is going to run. Just glad he did not choose the Cards I think everyone would have been disappointed. Manning will be lucky to make it through the season without being hurt again.

Oh yes it was about the money!!!
90 million plus incentives. You can not tell me he picked a out door venue and a second rate offensive line because it's what he has always wanted to do. Once he gets blown up by the Raider or KC his little brother can thank him for letting him try and make it to the playofs again

    $95 Million is Alot
Given that Manning has been a tremendous QB and has done alot for the colts and also the NFL but at this point to pay this kind of money to a guy who is 36 for one, has had 3 recent serious neck surgeries and then offer a 5 year $95 Million dollar deal is pure nuts. I think the Cardinals were smart in standing pat. Now it's up to Kolb and Skelton to prove their worth, especially Kolb. I also don't think it's out of the question for the team to consider a free agent QB as insurance. It would also be funny if Smith signs with Miami and leaves SF in a quandry................
