Cardinals bring DB William Gay in for a visit

Mar 19, 2012, 5:13 PM | Updated: 7:59 pm

The Arizona Cardinals, seeking to acquire depth in the
defensive backfield, are bringing William Gay in for a
visit.

According to Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com, Gay joins
the Packers’ Jarrett
Bush
as players checking out the Cardinals Monday.

Gay, 27, has spent his entire five-year career with the
Steelers, recording three interceptions and 247 tackles
(205 solo).

ProFootballFocus.com ranks Gay as the
seventh-best free agent cornerback, saying, “He’s still
only 27, and does have talent, but any team who signs him
will still be paying for potential more than production.”

But that may be especially interesting to the Cardinals,
as defensive coordinator Ray Horton was Gay’s defensive
backs coach in Pittsburgh before he left for the desert.
