When the Cardinals released Levi Brown on March 13, many fans were pleased.

After all, the former No. 5 pick in the 2007 draft has been a disappointment in the NFL, always known as the guy Arizona chose instead of Adrian Peterson.

However, the team re-signed the tackle just a few days later, with many of those same fans asking one, simple question.

Why?

Former Cardinal, now NFL Network analyst Kurt Warner, who played with Brown, wondered the same thing.

"I was a little surprised," Warner told Arizona Sports 620's Burns and Gambo.

Warner, who played with Brown from 2007-2010, said it may be a case where a coaching staff is comfortable with a player and still has hope he can improve.

"The one thing that you notice is that as guys continue to grow and as guys watch them as coaches, they may see some things that are improvement," he said. "From what I heard, they were really happy with the way he played the second half of last year."

That seems to fit with what others have thought, that Brown really stepped up his play in the team's final eight games.

Plus, Warner added, the Cardinals could have determined they were not going to find anyone better than Brown, so it just made sense to keep him.

"A guy that you're familiar with, a guy that's been in your system, a guy that you think is improving," he said.

levi sucked, but what sucks more is that ktar keeps asking warner for his opinion !make kurt go away !this is one of the reasons i listen to mike and mike, then turn off the radio the rest of the day ! KTAR sucks now .i've never heard the explanation, can someone tell me? why did they let asher go and break up gambo and ash, why do they think dave burns is a talent?, and why did they put the awful doug and wolf at the afternoon slot? they could have dumped doug and wolf, inserted mike and mike, keep gambo and ash afternoons...and just get rid of burns all together what really happened?

i am right there with you - i cant even bare listening to most of the shows anymore. i hate mike and mike and even it is more bearable. I also dont understand why Chuck and Vince was split up for Chuck to get another talk show and Vince to be put into the website. They were leaps and bounds ahead of anything else on sports talk radio these days.

    Yep Kurt WAS awesome.
I liked Warner for what he did. The superbowl run made everyone take notice of the Cards. We thank him for that. It got him his job with the NFL network and made his opinion something to listen to. He might be a little worried that if the Cards can get there again he will be forgotten for what he did accomplish here. Every one pulled together and played incredibly well for that superbowl run. No one remember that he is the one who threw an interception on the on yard line that lead to the Pittsburgh comeback. I think he's forgotten too.

I agree Sports 920 radio sucks.
I don't need prizes to listen and since the change to Mike and Mike and Cowherd I have been on the am dial maybe a handful of times. I don't want to hear about how East coast sports are the Bomb and anyone west of the Mississippi needs to bow down to the East coast sports gods. I rock the 98 KUPD "The morning sickness" in the morning when I use to listen to Doug and Wolf. Sorry the program manager made some terrible choices and I just don't care to listen to the station anymore.

i dont know if you guys read the articles about chris mullen and the warriors recently, but he talked about how he looks at his playing career separately from his career in the front office. in the front office, it was a rocky relationship that ended poorly and as a player he had nothing but good memories. i think its sort of that way with kurt - you can remember all the good times as a player, but as an announcer you dont have to agree with what he says. same with sir charles.

    Barkley and Warner
Have jumped on the national-media-it's-only-acceptable-to-slam-a-small-market-team. Their paychecks depend on it. If they slam the large markets, their fan base goes down and they're not a marketable. I saw on Mora Jr on NFL network say "who cares about Dallas, they haven't been in the playoff's for years" and I haven't seen him since.

    Warner.. MR. GAS BAG
Warner turned his back on AZ leaving us High & Dry without a QB, God told him to retire. If your hearing voices Kurt go check yourself into a psyco ward. This moron said Leinarts the Future of the Cards & a franchise quality QB. Kurt u dont know crap. He didnt fullfill his contract w the Cards & gave us NO notice, great guy. Who cares he helpd get us to the Superbowl, he was the reason we lost it, MR. INTERCEPTION. EVERY chance he gets to rip on the Cards he takes it. Bandwagon fans are blind to the facts, pull your heads out, TRUE CARDS fans dont like him & know he turned his back on us.
