Ryan Williams became largely a forgotten man last season, even after putting together an excellent training camp.

A surprising choice in the second round of the NFL Draft, Williams saw his 2011 campaign come to an end in the team's second preseason game, as he ruptured the patellar tendon in his right knee, an injury that caused him to miss the entire season.

Now, with months to go before training camp, Williams tweeted about his progress as he works to return to the field.

A healthy Williams will only help the Cardinals, because while incumbent starter Beanie Wells had a career year with 1,047 yards rushing last season, injuries took their toll on his production. Having a player of Williams' caliber backing him up and splitting carries would give Arizona a dynamic 1-2 punch at running back.

And, as you can see, Williams can't wait to get back onto the field and truly begin his NFL career.

    Call me cautious
I want to see Williams back in the lineup as much as anybody but, for the love of all things holy, DON'T RUSH HIM BACK IF HE'S NOT PHYSICALLY READY! This kid's dynamic and I want to see him on the field at 100% rather than back on the IR.

I agree with the last posts
Having RW back helps soften the blow of not having a 2nd round pick this year.

This was a super quick back
Knee injuries tend to reduce quickness. We may have seen the last of Williams.

    relax
Speed was never a strong suit for Williams, he has horrible tangibles for a running back. His strength is his vision and patience. He is also a very tough back to bring down. He will be fine even if he loses a step from the injury

    No Worries
RW will be back and he will be a force for the Redbirds. He is very young and dedicated and has been rehabbing hard. This type of injury doesn't linger like a ACL or meniscus, once it's healed it is stronger than before and it is very unlikely to tear again. Also, it will not affect the way he runs or cuts. Run on lilsweetness, we need you!

    Guys
The patella tendon only comes in to play when he's decelerating - cutting and accelerating won't be the issue here. I'm with you guys in that I hope he's going to be back to his old self because this kid was amazing in college and even in training camp, but age works in his favor. Don't give up on him yet.
