The Arizona Cardinals drafted Notre Dame receiver Michael Floyd with the 13th pick of the first round of the NFL Draft, adding an explosive weapon to pair with Pro Bowler Larry Fitzgerald.

Cardinals players took to Twitter and expressed an overwhelmingly positive reaction about the newest member of the Birdgang.

Excitement is brewing for the Cardinals, who are certainly going to welcome Floyd into the fold with open arms.

    Great, can Michael Floyd step back in the pocket and throw a football? Typical Cardinals pick... anything but a QB. I'd like to point out that for the 2 seasons that we actually had a good QB, we made the playoffs and were 34 seconds away from being world champs.

    There weren't any good QB's in this draft. The 2 best QB's went to IND and WAS. What we really needed was a Tackle. The best Tackle in the draft went to MIN. We definately needed a WR opposite Fitz. The best WR in the draft went to JAC. So here we are at #13... We can waste our 13th pick on the 3rd best QB in the draft or the 2nd best Tackle/WR. I definately wouldnt use my #13 on the 3rd best QB... So which player would make a immediate impact on your team? A Tackle or WR?

    He will be much better with a good # 2 and with the new rookie cap...a good move!!!!!!!!!!!.wish we had more high picks though...

    If we drafted a Tackle, Kolb/Skelton still have to get rid of the ball faster. Floyd is a BIG Target. Defenses have to respect his size and ball catching ability. That takes pressure of Fitz. It gives Roberts and Doucet their more natural NFL positions as #3 and #4 WR. Roberts and Doucet arent NFL #2's. With a QB like Manning or Brady they are. But as I mentioned before, the best QB's are taken. The only FA worth going for and the only 2 worth a 1st round pick. Now we have a weapon who will make a faster impact on offense than a Tackle. Kolb and Skelton need to get rid of that ball FASTER.

    We went into the draft hopeful that either Reiff, DeCastro, Floyd, or Ingram might fall to us. Incredibly, they ALL did. There are three areas the Cardinals needed to address this offseason to make the necessary improvement for next year: OT, WR, and OLB. We had to address one of those areas with a top flight guy in the first round, and did so. Nice first pick. With Fitz, Floyd, Housler, Beanie, and Williams, the offensive weapons are terrific. Now get to work on the line.

    ..I preferred Ingram. But Floyd was a solid pick considering how the draft flowed. The Rams and Hawks positioned themselves behind AZ...certainly if the Cards didn't select him one of our division competitors would have. I'd rather have Floyd on our team, than watch him compete against us. Not to mention he fills a need. Nice job Cards!!
