Bill Bidwill has a reputation as one of the NFL's worst owners, with much of it deserved because his teams have perennially been at or near the bottom of the standings.

Things have changed around the organization ever since Michael Bidwill took over, with impressive results to show for it.

However, that wasn't enough for The Big Lead to give the Cardinals ownership much credit.

In a piece ranking the NFL's bosses, the Cardinals came in 24th, ahead of only Miami's Stephen Ross, Washington's Daniel Snyder, Detroit's William Clay Ford, Kansas City's Clark Hunt, Cincinnati's Mike Brown and Cleveland's Randy Lerner.

Bidwell's standing has improved in recent years with the opening of the University of Phoenix Stadium and the Cardinals' competitive stretch with Kurt Warner at quarterback. He still ranks lowest on this list among owners who have had a team reach the Super Bowl because of all the bad years before, and he's been the one in charge for a while. (40 seasons, 41.0% win percentage, 1 Super Bowl Appearance, 13% of seasons in Final Eight).

The misspelling of Bidwill's name notwithstanding, it's interesting that while the site mentions how things have changed for the Cardinals, it's still not enough to really help the rankings.

Of course, it's just one guy's rankings, and at the end of the day the fact that the Cardinals ownership situation has obviously improved over the last few years is reason enough for optimism going forward.

    In his defense
It IS still the same owner, so if that's what he's ranking he has to take all the history into consideration, even if Bidwill's role lately is drastically reduced.

    Criteria
he's a great owner if you look at the business of making money. not so much from a fan's win/loss view. But he is a businessman first. It is HIS money. Good for him!!!!

If you want to be taken seriously, spell the owner's name correctly.

    #24? Well... Righfully so!
Fred T is right. He's in this business to make money. Most owners have other things going on. They make millions of money in other endevours. This is Bidwills only business making millions of dollars. Cant call that stupid. Call the fans stupid for them to continue buying his memorabilia and going to his stadium to watch a losing team! Fans are investors. Except they dont get dividends they get wins from their team. If your team isnt winning then your paying into a bad investment. And that, is stupid...

    Just a note
Don't lump Michael Bidwill into his fathers failures. He's the one that has led this franchise out of the cellar. I trust him

    Long live Michael Bidwill
I agree with the others, Michael Bidwill brought this team into the 21st century. He has listened to the fans wants and has always embraced the core fans. He has come up to me before games and chatted with me, thanked me for supporting the team That is class

    Consider this
If fans are only to turn out if a franchise puts a winner on the field, then Wrigley Field in Chicago should be empty every season. Unfortunately, Fitz is an example of what has been a typical AZ fan of any sport. Too many people around Phoenix earn the title of a fair-weathered fan. It is a fine line when it comes to swallowing the product an owner puts out there, i.e the Suns. But instead of abandoning the team, voice your dis-satisfaction to the club, write letters, make phone calls but don't walk away. That's gutless.

    Kudos
I sat at Sun Devil Stadium for several Cardinal seasons, it was tough work. Kudos to Michael, he has changed the atmosphere surrounding the Cardinals and while I'm sure he likes to make $$$, I met him during the 2008 playoffs on the great lawn and he clearly enjoyed winning just as much. As for the ranking, based on the criteria, so what! I like what I see !
