Michael Floyd during OTAs. (Adam Green/Arizona Sports)
The Arizona Cardinals and first-round pick Michael Floyd have come to an agreement on a five-year contract.

Floyd, taken with the 13th pick in last April's draft, tweeted the news Monday afternoon, and the Cardinals confirmed it minutes later.

The 22-year-old Floyd caught 100 passes as a senior and 271 over the course of his four-year career at Notre Dame, and is expected to get plenty of playing time as a rookie.

At 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds, Floyd has good size and enough speed to be a downfield threat in the NFL.

The hope is he'll take some pressure off of Pro Bowler Larry Fitzgerald and give the Cardinals another option in the passing game, which would be big for an offense looking to improve off of a couple lackluster seasons.

The Cardinals also announced the signing of third round pick Jamell Fleming, who inked a four-year deal Monday.

    well done
Nice work F.O. Now just have a good camp and keep everyone from getting injured, and we'll be much improved from last year. I hope the rookie linemen get enough reps to improve a lot early on. They should be good, by a year from now if they do. Who do you suppose become the slot man, Doucet or Roberts? I think Roberts fits the mold better, Doucet is more of a #2 who didn't pan out as well as hoped, but not terrible.

My favorite part of the new CBA!
The way the new rookie wage scale now doesn't kill teams on the price tag and has guys getting signed in June is awesome! Best part of the new CBA.

Roberts will be our slot guy & Doucet will be our 4th WR! Roberts has the ability to stretch the field with his speed unlike Doucet who is more of a possession WR. I like the depth now though! Watch out for Housler, this guy is gonna be key.
