The Arizona Cardinals do not yet have a starting quarterback, which leaves room for people to speculate who should get the job.

With Kevin Kolb and John Skelton in the midst of a battle of mediocrity, some feel like the team may look elsewhere for an answer at the position. One of the QBs supposedly on the trade block is Tarvaris Jackson, who is currently with the Seattle Seahawks.

Would he be a good fit in Arizona? Hard to say, but according to Sports Illustrated's Jim Trotter players on the Cardinals players wouldn't be opposed to bringing him in.

Jackson, 29, has had a solid-but-unspectacular career since being taken in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings. He's completed 59.4 percent of his passes and thrown 38 touchdowns against 35 interceptions, tallying a QB rating of 77.7 in the process.

At any rate, while Jackson wouldn't necessarily be a bad option for the Cardinals, it's hard to see the Seahawks being amenable to the idea of trading him within the NFC West. Besides, as of now the Cardinals have four QBs on the roster, and adding someone like Jackson would likely mean parting with someone like Kolb.

And as bad as things seem now, it's a little tough to see that happening.

    Not the Answer
Hard to find comfort in the QB situation when there is a rumor about Jackson potentially landing here. I understand it was merely a tweet regarding the players thoughts on the speculation, but we have QB's and coaching just needs to make sure you maximize their abilities and not force a system on them.

Do we really need a 3rd mediocre option? I'll take my chances with Skelton, thank you.

    The National Media
I guess they just get to make up all kinds of stuff. I mean what makes this guy think that Cardinal players would welcome TJ? Maybe they want more controversy so they are all ready to jump on the next available below average QB. Come on! The national sports media is becoming as unreliable as the regular media.

    Just to clarify
I meant the regular national media, not the local media. I like our local media. Just everything outside of AZ sucks. I love AZ! I think I'll stay a while.

Annoyed that speculations and tweets are now deemed "Reports". Not a knock against azsports, but I see this on Pro Football talk often. Just a way to get readers to click on the story I suppose.

    Battling mediocrity with more mediocrity
I just can't imagine the Cardinals swapping a mediocre QB who knows the system with a mediocre QB who doesn't. Cutting Kolb at this point does the Cardinals no favors at all—they've already paid him the lions share of his salary for this season in the form of a roster bonus which is already in his pocket. Barring a bona-fide top-tier starter hitting the trading blocks, either Kolb or Skelton will be starters come week one (though don't rule out Lindley or Bartel getting the nod by the end of the season).

    Here we go again
So we're two games into the pre-season and the calls for yet another QB have started. So the solution to our sub-par QB play is to bring in yet another QB who doesn't know the offense and has failed to wow any team that he's been on? Everyone needs to step back and show some patience. We've got 3 games to go to figure this out.

I don't expect Kolb to do any better than he has. His presence in the pocket is shaky at best. Bringing a QB from another organization would just say to Skelton, Bartel and the new rookie Lindley that no matter how hard you work you can be replaced. I believe if it gets to the point that Kolb doesn't work out, to start Skelton with Lindley as backup. This will give Skelton confidence that he is the future of this franchise and gives Lindley time to learn the system without pressure. With Skelton at age 24, he could turn into a very good QB, given the opportunity.
