Arizona Cardinals running back Ryan Williams made his preseason debut last week against Oakland, his first game since tearing his patellar tendon in his knee last August.

Needless to say, Williams' return brought some much needed relief for Offensive Coordinator Mike Miller.

"Last week when we were on the field in pre game, I was watching Ryan Williams. I looked over and said to Russ (Grimm), ‘You know what, you almost forget that tonight we actually get to have him in the game,'" Miller told Arizona Sports 620's Doug and Wolf Tuesday. "It's almost like when you walk by a Cadillac in the garage that you can't drive."

Williams rushed for 25 yards on five carries and had a touchdown in his return, a testament to his hard work and quick return from the devastating injury.

As Cardinals Camp finishes up, Mike Miller talks to Doug and Wolf about what he is looking for in Thursday's preseason game. Also, how it has been going through the QB competition. Plus, his thoughts on Ryan Williams, Michael Floyd, and John Skelton.

"You just can't say enough about the guy's work ethic. He stayed positive, he applied himself during the offseason," Miller said. "Just the way he is right now and the way he has come back is a big credit to him and his training staff. We were really excited last week to have him back."

Williams garnered attention from many veterans on the club with his work ethic while on the sideline; something Miller said has left him with much more respect than a second year player would usually have.

"He just loves the game and brings such a passion to it. With his work ethic, he is just trying to get better every day. He's a good teammate, he understood his role as a rookie, he's super positive and he's a guy that just brings energy," Miller said. "So people get excited for him as a person, and then once you watch him on the field and see the things he is capable of doing that really gets people excited."

With the Cardinals not yet sure who their quarterback will be, and a run heavy coach in Ken Whisenhunt, the sky's the limit for Williams, who looks to break out in his first real season with the Cardinals.

    Him and Beanie
can be a force in the NFC West. I think that they can compliment eachother no matter who starts. The thing with these 2 is staying healthy. RB's take a lot of hits through their short lived careers. Talented RB's like Williams can make a bad O line look good (see Marshall Faulk when he went to STL). Im excited to see him and Beanie play together. Hopefully beanie will get a few touches vs Tenn.

    Love Beanie and Williams
BUT I want the Cards to make the right decision here between ASmith and Powell. That 4th back is so much more important in AZ when u realize that LSH can not be a steady RB option because of his size; he would get killed if he played RB consistently. Powell has really impressed me and I could see him having a role THIS Year especialy since we will be running more to compensate for the QB situation. Now if either Beanie or Ryan got hurt, that 4th RB will be major and I don't think Smith gets us to where Powell does, IMO.
