As the Arizona Cardinals head into their final preseason game, they do so with a few position battles still yet unresolved. We are looking at what is left to be determined, including the tackle spots.

Camp began with the offensive line being mostly set, with the Cardinals only needing to fill the right tackle spot. However Levi Brown tore the triceps in his right arm during the preseason, leaving the team scrambling to fill both tackle positions.

Jeremy Bridges

The veteran Bridges began training camp as the starting right tackle, and it's possible Brown's injury may slide him to the other side.

Bridges has not received as much playing time in preseason because, as head coach Ken Whisenhunt has said, the team knows what he can do, and as it is that may be better than the other options.

Bobby Massie

A fourth-round pick out of Ole Miss, it was hoped Massie would eventually take over the right tackle position when he was ready, not out of necessity.

However, the 23-year-old may be pressed into duty due to injuries along the line, and he's getting a test run as a starter in Thursday's preseason finale against the Broncos.

Who will be the Cardinals' starting tackles?

If Massie can build on his performance last week, when he helped stabilize the line against the Titans, there's a good chance he'll be in the lineup when the Cardinals open the season against Seattle.

D'Anthony Batiste

A career journeyman, Batiste is getting the start at left tackle Thursday against the Broncos after playing well in Tennessee last week.

Another good effort could lock up the starting job.

D.J. Young

D.J. Young got the start against the Titans last week and, well, struggled a bit. The second-year pro had trouble staying in front of whoever lined up opposite him, and likely cost himself a shot at the starting job for now.

That said, the Cardinals are still excited about Young's potential and will not give up on the 24-year-old just yet.

Coming up Wednesday: Secondary

Previous battle: Powell vs. Smith

I know he hasn't played much because.... but it just seems we haven't heard anything about this guy. Wasn't he the starter last year? Just surprised. Maybe he's been horrible. Just haven't heard much, if any, indication he'll start or even play.

cards shuld spend all their picks
On offensive lineman in next years draft. Mike Singleterry did that one year and look how it has worked out for SFs o line. Mike is gone now but obviously at least he knew that it starts and ends up front. Our line has ended before it has even started.

If we had a good QB we wouldn't be having this discussion. What made Warner so good is, he read the defense and got the ball out of his hands. QBs wins championships, not O-lines...

    O Line Needs Help
Steve S, No QB can get the ball out when the defense is coming in at the same rate as the QB is dropping back. At most they've been getting 1/2 step on the D. Not enough time for a play to develop or spot a receiver.

Except Warner didnt win us a championship, and our line at the time was much more cohesive then it is now. An O-Line doesnt win a championship, but you need a capable one to even have a shot. No team that cant buy their QB 3 seconds will win a super bowl

There is a flip side to your "pick-ups" argument. There is a reason that these NFL teams released/Waived these players. Could it be that they are just as bad or inexperienced as what we have? What good does it do to muddy the waters with our current situation. Considering the circumstances the team is proceeding as they should. Evaluate current roster before bringing in other teams castaways.

hows the rest of their respective lines? better yet, hows the rest of their respective teams. I am not saying that we have the have the single most dominant line in history. I am saying it has to be good enough to hold steady. Its a piece of the team and like anything else in life, everything has to function properly

They didn't pick up any of those tackles because teams have to release 20+ players in a couple days. The list of guys released then might include someone anyone has heard of before, unlike the names on your list, hug.
