Arizona Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt, when asked Monday, was not ready to name Kevin Kolb as his starting quarterback for Sunday's game in New England.

Kolb replaced an injured John Skelton in the fourth quarter against the Seahawks Sunday, leading the team to a win.

And even with the news that Skelton's injury was just a sprained ankle -- which is good news -- most figured Kolb would get the nod.

He will, according to team president Michael Bidwill, who was asked about Kolb on Arizona Sports 620's sister station News-Talk 92.3 KTAR. He was a guest on the Karie and Chuck show.

"He's going to be our starter obviously this week and we're excited about the opportunity in front of us," Bidwill said.

It's a big opportunity for Kolb, too.

The QB lost a preseason battle with Skelton for the starting job, but now gets a chance to revive his career with the Cardinals.

Should he play well in New England -- and every game after -- there's a chance he'll keep the starting gig even when Skelton returns from his injury.

Check out the first Lunch with Karie and Chuck guest is Cardinals President Michael Bidwill. Who's going to start at QB for the team this weekend, are the Bidwill's welcome back in St. Louis? And more.
Play poorly, though, and there may not be any time left for the former Eagle to shed the "bust" label that's been attached to his name.

just put it out there. The mind games of coach whiz are tiring and gives off the perception of being a hindrance To the confidence of his QBs'.

    Shut up Bidwill
If Skelton is healthy, he should be the starter. I personally don't like Kolb and he has proven nothing ever since he got here. He was all hype but has nothing to show for it. Skelton shows potential but how can he keep getting better if he's on the bench?

You are the reason that people like Jeremy Foster can post idiotic articles saying that AZ Cards fans are ignorant.

I think you would fall under the "ignorant fan" category just because of your comment. My opinion is based on facts. Kolb hasn't accomplished a thing here in AZ. What a flop

    He Deserves the Chance, but...
Whisenhunt needs to let his QB run the Offense on Sunday. If Kolb knows his coach has enough faith in him to make the play calling, then he'll play with confidence.

    Game Plan
Coach Whiz doesn't like making announcements so the apposing teams have no idea who to game plan against. I wish Bidwill wouldn't go over coach whiz's head and reveal coach's strategy to keep the patriots guessing. What next give the patriots the Cardinals playbook Cmon Michael who's team are you on.

    Yea Im tired of Whiz
Making the QB decisions. Its time for someone else to do that for him, even if its Bidwill, because, no one could do worst than Whiz at picking QB's. I do not like Kolb personally, in fact, I support Skelton. But for the greater good, I dont care who starts, just as long as they win baby win.

    Just a backup..
..doing his job! That's what happens when a starter goes down. I would prefer not to give an Bill B any info though....Kolb is a big boy, so his feelings are not relevant at this level of the game.

I believe all Jesse R was saying was if Skelton is healthy he should get the start. I agree. Kolb had one good series and you want to hand him the ball? Skelton had a good first half. If we were able to run the ball I believe it would have been much better. Skelton strugled in the 3rd quarter and everyone wants to hand over the ball to Kolb. I am a season ticket holder. I did not "Boooo" Kolb when he came into the game but I was really nervous. You just dont know which Kolb you are going to get.

Whiz needs to learn how to have his qb's respect
This crap beating around the bush and not naming a starter and putting all your trust behind him can divide a team. Skelton shouldn't lose his job to an injury unless Kolb comes in and performes miracles. I will be the first to say that I never had any confidence in Kolb but if he's our QB i'm backing him 100% and those that were booing may have lit a fire beneath his ars. The drive against Seattle looked like a total different qb from all aspects, getting rid of the ball, throwing seeds, and not leaving the pocket.
