It's hard to find silver linings even days after the Cardinals' 17-3 loss in St. Louis.

But in spite of the poor offensive line play, non-existent run game and quarterback Kevin Kolb's inability to take advantage of offensive opportunities during the first half against the Rams, there was one standout in the team's first loss of 2012 -- linebacker Daryl Washington.

Washington, who recorded his team-leading fourth sack of the season against Sam Bradford and Co., has often been overshadowed by household names like Darnell Dockett, Adrian Wilson and Calais Campbell.

Well, not anymore.

According to ProFootballFocus, not only did the third-year pro from TCU account for half of Arizona's total pressures (6) against Bradford, but his statistical run defense grade for the season is right on par with the elite middle linebackers in the NFL.

In addition to leading the team in sacks, the former second round pick also leads the way with 39 total tackles.

Cardinal fans won't have to worry about Washington fleeing for other pastures any time soon. The heart of the Arizona defense is under team control until 2017, after signing a six-year extension in September.

Cards D only gave up 17 points last week
Now how long have we(Cards observers) been talking about the weakness of our O-line? During Warners time in AZ we talked about his fast release countering the O-lines inability to hold off the opposing D. We as a team will never be able to be truly successful "as a team" if one crucial aspect of our team can not produce efficiency at the NFL level. Grimm should never have been given that second five year contract. He is the bottom line on the O-line and that O-line has never improved. Where are the consequences for results or in this case lack there of?

...and I'll say it again. Signing DW when the Cards did will save them a TON of money in the long run. Dude is a stud LB'er on the rise.

    When the line is adequate,
I don't mean good, then throw Kolbs name in as a reason for a loss. When you get hit like he did, anyone will make snap judgements or here footsteps. When the line is adequate then start up the Kolb bashing machine everyone seems to love operating. Grimm is the assistant HC, he does not have any input on drafting or signing lineman? The line is the main reason for the loss.
