The Cardinals head into Week 6 of the NFL season with a little less depth at the running back position than when they started in 2012. Both Beanie Wells and Ryan Williams are out for the long haul. Wells was put on the injured reserve/designated to return list until November 25th and Ryan Williams is out for the season with a shoulder injury.

Starting quarterback Kevin Kolb knows not having Williams will hurt the team but still has confidence in his remaining running backs.

"We knew in camp that we had a lot of guys that could compete at that position. That was going to be one that was going to be tough to make some decisions at and now everybody's getting a shot," Kolb said. "So everybody gets a chance to show what they have."

The Cardinals will turn to LaRod Stephens-Howling, William Powell and Alfonso Smith. Stephens-Howling is returning from a hip injury, Powell was impressive in the preseason and Smith was cut from the team but resigned a couple weeks ago.

"Well we have faith in whoever's back there," Kolb said. "It is a big blow to lose [Williams], especially somebody you see gaining confidence each game but again, we have confidence in the rest of the guys."

If these running backs want to take advantage of their moment in the spotlight, this week against the Bills would be the time to do it. The Buffalo defense allowed 621 total yards against the 49ers last week, including 311 on the ground.

    It is what it is
BW and RW obviously have talent above and beyond Powell and Smith...Way above, that's why they were NFL starters and those guys weren't. It is what it is, let's hope for the best. Stars are born from adversity. Good luck guys!

Message to the O Line: GET SOME PUSH. TAKE IT AND MAKE IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL (LBs and DBs). NO ONE RESPECTS OUR RUNNING GAME. ITS TOO LATE TO EARN RESPECT. NOW, YOU GUYS HAVE TO TAKE IT FROM THEM! NO MORE EXCUSES BECAUSE YOU GUYS RAN OUT OF THEM. GO OUT THERE AND PLAY FOOTBALL. DO YOUR DAM JOB!

    Powell has the...
Strength and Burst to help the O-line out. He seems to run shorter than his 5'9 height. I agree with FitzIsMyHero and that the backs need to hit the hole quickly instead of waiting for a better path. The O-Line needs to show a mean streak instead of just trying to not miss their blocks.

    Sign another back
Thomas Jones and Steve Slaton are sitting at home. You don't think Kolb (or Skelton) would like Thomas Jones back there, sticking a linebacker and releasing to the flat? Or pounding it between the tackles? Come on Cardinals, that guy's a beast and never gets hurt. Get him on the squad.

That This Website Which Has The Most Potential Of Any Sports WebSite In Arizona, Has Completely Shut The Door On The John Skelton Situation Last Time I Checked He Was My Starting Quarterback? Whats Going On There? This Could Be A Disaster In The Making. What Is Whiz Waiting For a 4-4 Record? If Kolb Dosent Learn How Read The Field By Sunday Going To Minnesota Wont Be Any Easier And Then San Fran I Dont Understand. Skelly Won The Job Plain And Simple.

    I agree with CardsgoCards
Kolb has no done anything besides hold the ball and scramble to the right every time to take a sack. He never steps up if there is a pocket. Skelton will take the job back after a four or five game losing streak. He gets sacked a lot and mostly because he doesn't know how to read defenses and holds the ball way to long!
